Art and Illustration by Maureen King
Maureen was raised on a healthy diet of Ladybird and Richard Scarry books as a child. This has led to a love of illustration in general and a desire to create fun and quirky characters.
Working primarily in watercolours, Maureen has her own style that employs bold and contrasting colours that reflect a joy for life and a keen eye for the little details.
Her approach to an illustration involves ‘getting into the character’ and imagining herself within the picture, and in doing this she hopes to draw the viewer in too.
Maureen is self taught and has worked with a variety of media (with varying success!) But her style has remained consistent, and has been there since she could hold a pencil.
